What this software is
SillyTavern Manager (the software, the manager) is an open-source control panel that installs, runs, backs up and monitors SillyTavern on a computer you control. It is published by Phạm Quang Lộc under the GNU Affero General Public License version 3.
The project operates no service on your behalf. There is no account to create, no server that holds your data, and nothing that runs unless you start it. Every copy runs on hardware you own, rent or otherwise control.
These terms cover your use of the software, of the project's website at stm.phamloc.top, and of the Cloudflare sign-in relay page hosted there. They do not replace the AGPL-3.0, which grants you the rights to use, study, modify and redistribute the source code. Where these terms and that licence disagree, the licence prevails.
Accepting these terms
Installing, running or redistributing the software means you accept these terms and the Disclaimer that accompanies them. If you do not accept them, do not install or run the software.
The first-run screen asks you to confirm this once, before it creates your administrator password. The full text is available there, and in the panel afterwards, without an internet connection.
These terms may be revised as the software changes. Continuing to use the software after a revision means you accept the version then in force.
Not affiliated with SillyTavern
SillyTavern is separate software, written and maintained by other people. This project is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to the SillyTavern project, its developers or its community in any official capacity.
The manager obtains SillyTavern the way you would obtain it yourself: at your request, it clones or downloads the public repository at github.com/SillyTavern/SillyTavern onto your machine. It does not redistribute SillyTavern, does not host a copy of it, and does not alter what upstream publishes beyond the configuration file you choose to edit.
SillyTavern is licensed by its own authors under its own terms, and your use of SillyTavern is governed by those terms rather than by these. Upstream may change, rename, restructure or withdraw anything at any time. When that breaks an installation, it is not a defect of this software, and the project owes you no fix.
The name SillyTavern is used here only to state truthfully what this software manages.
Your installation is yours to run
You are the administrator. You choose where the software runs, who can reach it, which SillyTavern version to install, when to back up and when to restore.
You are responsible for the security of the machine, for the strength and secrecy of the passwords you set, for keeping the operating system and Node.js patched, and for anything done by anyone you give access to.
The defaults keep SillyTavern bound to the local machine. Anything that widens that — the local-network switch, the access gateway, a Cloudflare Tunnel, a reverse proxy, a hosted platform — is a deliberate action you take, and the exposure it creates is yours to accept and to manage.
Exposure to a network carries risk that no password fully removes. Do not expose an installation holding data you cannot afford to lose or to reveal.
Your content and your use
Characters, personas, prompts, chats, images, settings and API keys are yours. You create them, they are stored on your machine, and they are never transmitted to the project. The project cannot see them, does not moderate them, and takes no responsibility for them.
What you write, what you ask a model to produce, and what a model produces in response are entirely your responsibility. The software generates nothing by itself: it starts a program you chose, which talks to services you chose, using credentials you supplied.
You must use the software in a way that complies with the laws that apply to you, with the terms of every model provider and service you connect to it, and with other people's rights. You must not use it to produce or distribute material that is unlawful where you are.
The project does not host, transmit, store, index or distribute anything you create with it. There is nothing here for the project to take down, and no moderation or reporting mechanism for it to act on.
Third-party services and accounts
The manager can connect to services that are not ours: Cloudflare for tunnels, R2 storage, Workers and account analytics; GitHub for releases and source downloads; npm for dependency installs; and whichever model providers SillyTavern is configured to call.
Those connections use your accounts, your credentials and your quotas. Each provider's own terms, prices and privacy policies apply to them, and you should read them. The project is not a party to your relationship with any provider.
Storage, bandwidth, operations, tunnels and model usage can cost money. Any charge a provider bills you is yours to pay — including one caused by a backup larger, more frequent or more numerous than you expected, by a misconfiguration, or by a defect in this software. Set your own limits and alerts in the provider's dashboard.
Signing in to Cloudflare creates resources inside your own Cloudflare account: a bucket, and optionally a Worker. They stay yours, they remain after you disconnect, and you can delete them yourself at any time.
Backups are a tool, not a guarantee
Backup and restore are provided to help you, with no promise that a backup will succeed, that an archive is complete, that it will still be readable by a future version, or that a restore will reproduce the state you expected.
A backup you have never restored is not a backup. Test a restore, keep at least one copy the manager did not make, and keep at least one copy somewhere the manager cannot reach.
Restoring replaces data. The manager takes a safety snapshot first and previews an archive before writing, but choosing the right archive and the right mode is your responsibility.
Usage telemetry
The software sends the project a small, allowlisted summary of how much it is used: the platform, the application version, and for each model request the provider, model, endpoint hostname, token counts, status and duration.
It never sends prompts, chats, model responses, API keys, file names, file paths, IP addresses or URL query strings. This is how a free project learns which platforms, versions and providers to keep working.
Accepting these terms includes accepting that summary. The Privacy Notice sets out the complete list of what is and is not sent, and how to switch the sending off.
Availability, updates and endings
The software is published as it is, when it is published. There is no release schedule, no support commitment, no service level, and no guarantee that a version will keep working, that a feature will be kept, or that the project will continue at all.
The project's website, the Cloudflare sign-in relay and the telemetry receiver are conveniences. They may change, move or be withdrawn without notice. An installation keeps working without them, except that signing in to Cloudflare through the project's OAuth client needs the relay — and you may register your own client and run your own relay, as the repository documents.
Licence and source code
The software is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License version 3 (AGPL-3.0-only). The complete corresponding source is published at github.com/locmaymo/stm.
Nothing in these terms limits, waives or adds conditions to the rights the AGPL-3.0 grants you. If you run a modified version and let other people use it over a network, the licence requires you to offer them the source of your version.
Third-party components keep their own licences, listed in the project's third-party notices. Logos and artwork are not covered by the AGPL-3.0; see the Notices.
Changes to these terms
These terms change as the software does. The version in force always ships with the software and is published at stm.phamloc.top/terms, carrying the date it took effect.
Substantive changes are noted in the release notes. If you do not accept a new version, stop using the software; the rights the AGPL-3.0 already granted you in the source code are unaffected.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that cannot be settled amicably is to be brought before the competent courts of Viet Nam.
If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest stays in force, and the unenforceable provision is to be read as narrowly as needed to make it valid.
Mandatory consumer-protection rights given to you by the law where you live are not affected by this clause.
